Course Description

Sculpture Studio consists of two key assignments: Wood-forms and Plaster, Mold-making and Casting. While emphasizing the acquisition of technical skills, the course is equally concerned with encouraging students to develop an awareness of their individual creative goals.


Assignment One

For the first assignment, Wood-forms, students are introduced to a variety of wood-working techniques. For the final project, students may generate a fully dimensional carved piece, assemblage, relief or mixed-media sculpture.

Assignment Two

For the second assignment, Plaster, Mold-making and Casting, students are introduced to a variety of mold-making and casting techniques. In addition to using plaster as a casting material, students are encouraged to explore building and carving plaster forms.
